For you, I tried to better myself

For you, I tried to change

For you, I turned myself

Into someone new and strange

I didn't think someone like you

Could love a girl like me

So I changed myself into someone

I thought you would want me to be

I realize now it was somewhat silly

To put on an act that way

But now it's much too late

For you have run away.
